Each letter has a metal hanger on the back to enable it to be hung on a wall etc, it could be removed if the letter is to be mounted differently.  

The letters are made from embossed aluminium which is mounted on black painted mdf board and wraps slightly around the edge of the backing. 

Please note that these are the larger version of this type of letter and not to be confused with cheaper, smaller types.
