1966 Apr-June Seattle Tacoma Edition Bound TV Guide for publishers of TV Guide.

From someone in marketing for TV Guide but not their volume... Long before there was an internet we would use TV Guides to track the programs on the other stations in Buffalo. Each quarter we would receive a Nielsen ratings book for our local market. Nielsen would list the program that aired, for example, "Movie", but did not list what the movie title was. We would use TV Guides to tell us what the specific title was. For example, we always had great success with Doris Day movies on Sunday afternoons against sports. By programming the right titles and achieving the highest ratings we could charge advertisers the highest rates. I used movies as an example but specific sporting events and knowing which episodes of a tv series did well was also researched by matching up the Nielsen ratings books and the bound TV Guides. I believe we received two bound editions each quarter. I worked in tv and advertising for 40 years.

Charlie Brown All Stars first showing. Batmobile article. Cassius Clay fight. Gilligan's Island cover.
