Here’s how the guitar is described in the 1964 Harmony catalogue.
‘MODEL H19 – DELUXE DOUBLE PICK UP-ADVANCED VIBRATO
Larger
and a truly professional model. The freeform profile-designed for your
comfort-is enriched by a handsome polished Cherry Red finish.
Fingerboard is ovalled rosewood with inlays and binding. 7 Pearlette
position markers, corresponding side dots – 16 frets clear of the body –
easy to finger. Strings are modern flat wound. Has one of the finest
dual pickups with individual magnetic pole pieces under each string, for
the most accurate adjustments. Precisely engineered type H
vibrato-tailpiece with metal 6 way adjustable bridge will sustain your
playing with beautiful vibrato effects. Indeed a ‘top of the line’
model.’
The ‘modern flat wound strings’ are long gone.. it now
has a new set of round wounds on it. It has been played a lot since 1964
so has the expected dents and scratches. The celluloid Pickguard has a
broken corner and has buckled on the lower edge.. when I took it off to
photograph I could see someone has tried to flatten the buckle by gluing
it to the body! But it has lifted … it could be flattened by adding
another screw but I’ve left it as original. It doesn’t affect playing.
Half of the block inlay at the 17th fret is missing.
Plenty of height left in the frets... some wear to the fretboard at the first few frets,
Both the Rowe Dearmond gold foil moustache pickups work fine.. loud and clear.
Pickguard is stamped AUG 31 1964.
The truss rod cover is an exact reproduction made in the UK
24” scale. Weighs 3.27 kg.
Comes
with it’s original strap in cardboard case which is in rough condition
but still functions. You wouldn’t want to take it on tour though!!! Has
some drawings and crossed out black marker on the outside.
