These Mavic classic rims were regarded as the most durable and heavy duty rims available anywhere! In checking old price lists from Mavic, and various bike shops the Mavic S.S.C. rim was by far the most expensive rim by a wide margin! They were used by most professional bike racers in the grueling Paris Roubaix one day race because they were so strong. The slightly heavier alloy used which was then dark anodized in either deep gray or deep blue. These rims weighed 400 grams per hoop which was 70-100 grams heavier than normal tubular rims of the era.
