  • Bezeichnung: Unterhalb der Darstellung im Druckstock betitelt mit "Eidgenössisches Freischiessen in Basel 1844. 2. Der Gabentempel" und nummeriert mit "II.Bd_36".

  • Beschreibung: Blick über den Festplatz beim Eidgenössischen Schützenfest in Basel im Juli 1844. Neben den Schützen mit geschulterten Gewehren und Bannern sind zahlreiche Bürger als Zuschauer auf dem Festplatz. Mittig erhebt sich der hohe Turm des gotisierenden Gabentempels mit Fahnen. An der Spitze steht die Skulptur eines Schützens mit der Schweizer Landesfahne.

  • Zustand: Guter Zustand. Auf dem gesamten Blatt sind leichte Stockflecken sowie vereinzelte Flüssigkeitsflecken sichtbar. Die Blattkanten sind bräunlich verfärbt und erscheinen stellenweise etwas abgegriffen. Entlang der rechten Blattkante sind leichte Beschädigungen festzustellen, die vermutlich von der Herauslösung der Seite aus einer Buchbindung stammen.

  • Date: 1844

  • Description: View over the fairground at the Federal Rifle Festival in Basel in July 1844. In addition to the riflemen with shouldered rifles and banners, numerous citizens are on the fairground as spectators. In the centre rises the high tower of the Gothicised temple of gifts with flags. At the top is the sculpture of a marksman with the Swiss national flag.

  • Condition: Good condition. Light foxing is visible on the entire sheet as well as scattered liquid stains. The page edges are brownish discoloured and appear somewhat worn in places. There is slight damage along the right edge of the sheet, presumably from the page being detached from a book binding.
