• Beschreibung: Nach einer Vorlage von Joshua Reynolds (1723 Plympton - 1792 London). Brustbild im Halbprofil. Setzte sich als Feldarzt für die verbesserte Organisation der Lazarette und Heilung der Verwundeten ein. Wurde später Leibarzt des Herzogs von Cumberland und verfasste medizinische Schriften. Pringle gilt als Urvater der modernen Militärmedizin.

• Inscription: Signed by the artist below the depiction in the printing plate. With the sitter's handwritten signature below in the print.

• Description: After a model by Joshua Reynolds (1723 Plympton - 1792 London). Half-length portrait. As a field doctor, he campaigned for the improved organisation of military hospitals and the healing of the wounded. Later became personal physician to the Duke of Cumberland and wrote medical treatises. Pringle is regarded as the forefather of modern military medicine.
