  • Description: Engraving by Simon Fokke, inscribed at the bottom: "Richt. XIII. den Engel vaart op den hemel int angefigte van Manoah en zyn huisvrouw. Apparition de lAnge à Manoah & sa Femme". The angel of God announces to Manoah and his wife that they will have a son named Samson. In a bright cloud of light, the angel hovers over the sacrificial fire that Manoah has just lit. Simon Fokke (Amsterdam 1712 - Amsterdam 1784) was a Dutch draughtsman, engraver and etcher.
