Likely used to hold dry plates for photographs during turn of the century (late 19th to early 20th century). Kodak letters are carved of wood and nailed on. Some losses to letters, and slight raising on some. One of a kind piece for any early photography collector. Shrinkage from age apparent. Key for the front has been replaced. Has old cloth repair to shrinkage of front. Overall in good condition. There are none others like this in our research
