Cucumber Kybria F1 -
Pack of 50 Seeds

Kybria is an ultra-early ripening cucumber hybrid developed by the Dutch company Rijk Zwaan in 2009. This parthenocarpic variety eliminates the need for pollination and is well-suited for cultivation in both open ground and greenhouses, making it versatile for farmers and greenhouse growers alike. Its high yield potential is attributed to strong fruit binding, making it particularly suitable for cultivation on grids or trellises.

The plants of Kybria are characterized by their open, vigorous nature, with female-type flowering and an indeterminate growth pattern, where the main stem continues to grow without interruption by flower clusters. Lateral shoot development is limited, and typically, 2 to 5 fruits are formed in each leaf axil. The leaves are of medium size and green in color.

To optimize fruiting, it is recommended to employ a unique bush formation method for Kybria cucumbers. This involves pruning the first 4 to 7 lateral shoots (depending on planting time) on the main stem and removing all side shoots and excess ovaries from the main stem up to the trellis height (up to 2.7 m). The main stem is then trained over the trellis and lowered down, with pinching performed after every 4-5 leaves. One to two lateral shoots of the first order are left on the trellis, and removing tendrils is also advisable. This formation method ensures maximum exposure to sunlight or artificial lighting, facilitating faster fruit development, which is especially crucial during periods of low light.

Maintaining a planting density of 2.6 to 3 plants per square meter (or 2.2 with early plantings) is recommended for optimal growth and productivity. It's advisable to harvest Kybria cucumbers daily to prevent overgrowth, as harvesting every other day may lead to increased numbers of overgrown fruits and a reduction in commercial yield by up to 20%. The ideal length for harvesting is 10-11 cm.

The fruits of Kybria cucumbers are uniform, short, oval-shaped, with medium-sized tubercles often present. They typically weigh between 70 to 90 grams and feature a rich dark green skin with short light stripes. The spikes on the skin are white and non-prickly. The flesh is dense, juicy, and free from bitterness or voids, ensuring a delightful eating experience for consumers.
