One of the rarest models to be found, this globe is a superb demonstration of Replogle Globes’ growing creativity in the 30s and 40s. The latest breakthroughs in technology and transportation were often celebrated on globes and American companies started turning that idea into themes for the bases. Airplane bases were the most successful example but this anchor base is in another example. This maritime theme is consistent with the map itself, documenting shipping routes throughout the world. Also identified are shortwave radio stations (as of 1936).

The globe can be dated by the map itself. Germany is the big key for the date as it is shown with both Austria (1938) and Bohemia (1939) annexed. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have not yet been annexed by the Soviet Union (1940).
