Description:
1 Japanese World War II Navy Officer's kai gunto sword available. This IJN Officer's handmade gendaito sword was made by Norinari. This Japanese Naval sword would make an important addition to any collection.
The gendai water-tempered, traditional blade made with tamahagane measures 25 3/4" (65.4 cm) from blade tip to notch in the blade spine. As mentioned this blade was made with tamahagane--which has produced a beautiful hada.
Condition:
The mounts are in excellent condition. The blade has one spot with a ware (weld opening). There is one pitted spot to the right of this ware. The sword is in original Japanese polish, and all areas of hada and hamon are perfectly visible. There are occasional tiny, nail-catcher type nicks in the cutting edge--expected in a carried 80-year old World War 2 sword.
The hamon and boshi are perfectly healthy.
