This Scarce series B Type 15 Twenty Pound notes was
only printed between 07-01-1980- and last printed date 28-10-1981. Or
just under 21 Months, William Butler Yeats
(1865-1939) was born in Dublin. His father was a lawyer and a well-known
portrait painter. Yeats was educated in London and in Dublin, but he spent his
summers in the west of Ireland in the family’s summer house at Connaught.
Yeats was A pillar of the Irish literary
establishment, he helped to found the Abbey Theatre, and in his later years
served two terms as a Senator of the Irish Free State. He was a driving force
behind the Irish Literary Revival along with Lady Gregory, Edward Martyn and
others.
