Measurements:
The plate measures 11-1/2" in Length (at Handles) x 10-3/8" Width.

Company History:
Oscar Gutherz started a porcelain decorating business in Altrolau in 1884, using financial backing from the American importer Lazarus Straus & Sons. The company subsequently expanded into porcelain production. In 1898, Oscar's brother, Edgar Gutherz, bought out Marx and joined Oscar in the business, which became known as the Oscar & Edgar Gutherz (O. & E.G.) Royal Austria Factory.

Maker's Mark:
They changed their hallmark to a green wreath with the word ‘Royal’ in the middle and “Austria” at the bottom, as is the case with this plate. In 1918 the Royal Austria Factory ceased to be; instead it became part of OEPIAG, the Austrian Porcelain Industry. Altrolau, Bohemia, Austria is now known as Stara Role, Czech Republic. Therefore, this platter dates from ca. 1898 to 1918.

Condition:
Excellent antique condition. There are no chips, cracks, crazing or repairs. Extremely light utensil marks to the face and light shelf wear to the sole. Light to moderate wear to the gold trim, especially at the handles. See photos.
