BEAUTIFUL HANDMADE FLUTEMAKERS GUILD SOLID SILVER ALTO FLUTE (#198) WITH 9K GOLD LIP

This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a superb Flutemakers Guild solid silver alto flute from an iconic British maker. The Flutemakers Guild in London was started in 1961, following the breakaway of seven craftsman from the famous flute makers Rudall Carte & Co - Ewen McDougall, Harry Seeley, David Keen, John Wicks, Roger Harris, David Tebbutt and John Wells. These craftsman specialised initially in handmade wooden then silver flutes and have since individually become some of the most respected British flute makers, their work extremely sought-after.

This is a beautiful and rare flute and represents the best British craftsmanship of a time when the Flutemakers Guild was at its peak. It was made in 1969 and has closed-holes with soldered tone holes, inline keys and French pointed key arms. There were only a small amount of Alto flutes made by the Flutemakers Guild and so this is incredibly rare. It spent most of its life with the BSO (Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra) where it was regularly serviced. The headjoint has a solid 9K gold lip and riser which produces a lovely dark and rounded sounded. The pads are used and older but are sealing well and so we have left them in. I will also shortly be in possession of another FMG silver alto flute headjoint (without the gold lip).
