Here is a new old stock hot idle compensator made by GM Rochester a long time ago.  1950's?  Early 60's?  I'm not sure...  I've been told it was original equipment on some early 60's cars with factory air conditioning, but I haven't verified that.

It's compact.  Only 1 5/8" long including the threaded nipple.

It has tarnish, light rust, and minor aging as pictured, but is in original unused condition.  The decal is slightly crooked as manufactured with some minor aging.

It was sealed in it's original package until I removed it for pictures.

Hot idle compensators were designed to open at a hot temperature and introduce a little extra air into the intake during extended hot idle periods to offset a rich mixture condition and prevent stalling.  I understand the concept, and it must have worked because they used to make some carburetors with them built in.  I can't guarantee this will fix any of your drivability problems.

This is supposed to be factory set, but there is also a screw adjustment and adjusting instructions.  This simply plumbs in by a 1/8" pipe thread anywhere to intake vacuum below the throttle plates... lower carb or intake near the carb.  It can be "teed" into accessory vacuum lines, but not the one to the distributor advance.  The instructions are pretty good about explaining that.

It's old and it's cool!  You'll love it!!
