  • Bezeichnung: Unten links in der Graphik monogrammiert mit "P. B. A.VL". Die Identität des Künstlers ist schwer zu bestimmen. Unter dem Namen Pieter van der Borcht waren im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert in Antwerpen, Brüssel und Mechelen ein oder mehrere flämische Künstler tätig. Rückseitig ist das Blatt lateinisch beschriftet.

  • Datierung: 16. Jahrhundert

  • Beschreibung: Biblische Darstellung mit einem Engel in einer Wolke, der dem knienden König David soeben erschienen ist. Er überreicht ihm ein Schwert, Totenkopf und ein Bund Getreide. Die Darstellung zeigt David mit seinen ikonographischen Attributen, der Harfe und der Krone.

  • Zustand: Sehr guter Zustand. Die ehemalige Befestigung an den Blattecken hat geringfügige Spuren hinterlassen: Die Blattecken der rechten Seite tragen jeweils einen geringfügigen Knick. Vereinzelte blasse Stockflecken sind festzustellen.

  • Technique: Woodcut on Paper

  • Inscription: Monogrammed "P. B. A.VL" in the lower left of the print. The identity of the artist is difficult to determine. One or more Flemish artists worked under the name Pieter van der Borcht in Antwerp, Brussels and Mechelen in the 16th and 17th centuries. The sheet is labelled in Latin on the reverse.

  • Date: 16th century

  • Description: Biblical depiction with an angel in a cloud who has just appeared to the kneeling King David. He presents him with a sword, skull and crossbones and a bundle of grain. The depiction shows David with his iconographic attributes, the harp and the crown.

  • Condition: Very good condition. The former attachment to the corners of the sheet has left minor marks: The sheet corners on the right-hand side each have a slight crease. Isolated pale mould stains can be seen.
