This listing is for a complete (6) note set of 1921 Notgeld (Emergency Money) from Oldenburg, Germany featuring German Shepherds as working guide dogs for the war blinded soldiers of World War One.

This is authentic German fractional currency from 1921. It is called "Notgeld", or emergency money. Germany was facing a severe shortage of metal in the early 1920's as a result of the Great War and could not make coins for change. The German government authorized some of the cities and states to print paper fractional currency to serve as a temporary fix. The different provinces designed their own currency, and often tried to out do each other in quality.

This set consists of six 50 pfenning notes, all in uncirculated condition. The back of each shows and describes a different function of the working dog. This set would make an excellent gift for any dog lover.
