For sale is a really nice teapot made most likely in France and definitely in the 18th century . The shape is like the theire Calabre that Sevres made but I think this piece here might have been made in Bordeaux. Could be another maker off course but that is what comes to my mind. Either way the piece has a nice shape to it and both the main body and lid are hand painted with a rose flower design surrounded by gold leaf wreaths and a green leaf garland with purple dots in between. A bit of gold trim to the handle and spout. Nice fruit finial with a leaf. A great early piece that looks superb on display. The set is in good condition with a small chip to the lid edge as shown which is not obvious at all because of the design and the spout must have had some damage to it and it has a metal end added to it. One side has a firing crack coming out from under that so it was probably already added when it was first made. Definitely an early addition! The bottom end of the handle has been repaired as well as shown. Looks to be a hairline in that spot. It is made of hard paste porcelain! All in all a really nice early teapot with its original lid. Not perfect but looks really nice when displayed. The piece is not marked underneath so that is of no help. It is 4.75 inches tall, 6.5 inches from handle to spout and 3.75 inches in diameter.
