This impressive looking machine comes from a recent house clearance so I don't know its history but it was found, along with a couple of other old Singers, in a room dedicated to craft work.

Its a 1950 Singer 81K 73 industrial overlocker and according to Singers original sales booklet it was for:

"trimming, overedging and closing seams in medium to lightweight knit materials and rayon. It has a gathering feed which can be quickly adjusted by hand to regulate the fullness of gathering on sweater material or for rayon where gathering is not required"

This example is very clean and still well lubricated and if you plug it in and press the pedal it purrs into life with an operation smoother and quieter than many domestic models I've had.

It must be said that I am no seamstress but comparing it to those on Youtube it seems to be functioning as it should but that being said I will caveat this sale by saying it may require some attention  adjustment or servicing prior to use.

PDF manuals are still available.

Its a well made heavy piece of kit that cannot be simply popped in the post and will require some dismantling and careful packing so p&p with Royal Mail/Parcelforce will reflect this.
