Please check the tension/gauge provided in the listing against yarn label:

3ply = Super fine Sock. Baby or fingering

4ply = Fine sports weight yarn

DK/QK = Light D.K./Light Worsted/ 8ply

ARAN = Medium Worsted /10ply/Fishermans

CHUNKY= BULKY

I found this information in a very old baby pattern book; its a guideline re weight/age/chest measurement:

AGE CHEST/Pat. Size Weight

Premature 12/14 ins up to 4.5 lbs

Birth 16/17 ins 7.5 lbs

3 months 18 ins 11.5 lbs

6 months 19 ins 16 lbs

9 months 19.5 ins 18 lbs 

12 months 20 ins 20 lbs

18 months 21 ins

24 months 22 ins

The majority of my patterns are UK patterns with “OLD” UK needles noted.
