I have listed for your perusal a exceptionally rare pair of early Electro Silver Plated Bronze Gothic Revival Boudoir Candlesticks designed by Pierre-Emile Jeannest 'Fugit for Elkington & Mason Co c1851

I cannot empathise to you enough how rare these candlesticks are, considering the very small amount of pairs that were produced by
Elkington & Mason at the time.

Pierre-Emile Jeannest, a French porcelain designer of great note came to the United Kingdom in c1844 to design for Minton, within a few years c1848, after being cajoled and persuaded by Joshua Mason (Writing Pen Producing Tycoon & Business Partner with George & Henry Elkington 1841-62), he branched out into designing quality wares not only for Minton but for Elkington Mason & Co as well, with a view on producing designs for the up and coming Great Exhibition, in Hyde Park c1851.

Jeannest's designs proved very successful for both Minton & Elkington Mason, and the sales of everything produced & designed by Jeannest, were boosted by the sale of a massive dessert service designed by him for Minton to Queen Victoria, herself at the Great Exhibition, 69 pieces of which were to be given as a friendship gift to the Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria.

These Gothic Revival Boudoir Candlesticks were designed and cast in bronze by Jeannest, before being electro Silver-plated and highlighted in parcel gilt by Elkington & Mason. They are both fully signed by Pierre-Emile Jeannest' Fugit and both carry the applied Royal Standard Elkington Mason & Co production lozenge. They encompass every design detail Jeannest imagined in their inception, and are simply delicious items from a time of complete and utter opulence and quality of the early Victorian era.

Each of the candlesticks stand 6"/15cm High 3.3/8"-8.7cm Wide across the base.
They weigh 448g & 443g

The candlesticks are both in excellent order with only having ware which can be considered as commensurate with their great age, together with only slight loss to the parcel gilt work throughout. Please view all pictures listed as they combined go a very long way towards their complete description.

My asking price has been gauged through the most recent sales of Pierre-Emile Jeannest's work worldwide and the simple rarity of anything he designed during his limited time spent at Elkington Mason & Co in the mid 19th century.

After returning to Paris, France, Pierre-Emile Jeannest passed away in c1857
