This is an original photograph from the early 1900’s showing the main engine for the USS Milwaukee built by UIW San Francisco California in 1904.

Notice the boy that standing to the far left of the photo. This shows how large this engine was. The ship had two engines and four smoke stacks.

Notice also at the center of the photograph near the bottom, the sign that defines the engine

This is not a reproduction. It’s an original photograph. I’m not sure exactly what type of print this is as this on thin paper, and the image is not glossy, but kind of a flat black.

The ship was launched on September 10, 1904 and decommissioned on May 3, 1910. This ship was a cruiser and part of the great white fleet that Theodore Roosevelt had created to show the strength of the United States.

The ship ended up stranded at Samoa Beach off of Eureka California on 13 January 1917. See the attached photos in the auction of the ship on the beach these images are not included with this item.
