This is a stunning 1937 Hamilton American Classic wristwatch, with a 17-jewel mechanical movement. The watch features a
10 K gold-filled case and a beautiful gold and beige dial. The rectangular case measures 22mm x 31mm and is paired with a bracelet strap made of stainless steel, leather, and 10 K gold-filled links. The watch has a reference number of 980 and was manufactured between 1930-1939. It is not water-resistant and has a 12-hour dial with a second hand. This classic timepiece is in very nice condition and would make a wonderful addition to any watch collection.

I found this watch in a small drawer that I just recently opened.
This watch is in beautiful condition. It looks like it had very light use for being over 80 years old.
Typically, when I open a case to a watch this old the inside of the case is a little dirty. You can see in the pictures this one is clean and bright.
The watch runs strong and keeps good time.
Has some very light scratches on the case.
Hands set easy, just a little hard to wind only because my fingers are too fat to grip the stem well.
The Amber Glass Crystal is clear of scratches although, if you look at the first picture there is a very small chip on the outer edge of the crystal at the 11 o'clock position just down from the upper corner.
The watch had a sticker on it saying check out. It was obviously one my late father did not get a chance to open and look at.
With the band that is on it now it will fit a 6 1/2" to 7" wrist. I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist and it is a little thight.

This watch is now running, because of its age and without any other history of the watch servicing would be recommended.

I am not a watch repairman; all I can do is open the back (if that is possible) and give the best description possible. Most everything I list, that is a watch, or has anything to do with timepieces, are vintage/antique (old), please expect that. If I say it runs, then it will when you get it. If I say it works, then it will when you get it. For working time pieces, I will take returns if it does not operate as stated, or if the description given is incorrect. No returns on parts or time pieces that need repair. Please be sure of your purchases. I will answer questions to the best of my ability.

This is a partof my late Fathers collection "A Journeyman In Time".

This wasfather’s hobby, not a business. Now it’s an estate sale.
