Harper, KS Cabinet Card 2 Kansas women sisters? friends? w/ curls, wearing brooches, by Burgener
I like the composition of this photo, with the white surround drawing attention to the women in the vignette. They don't look like sisters to me, but they could be cousins, or the best of friends, perhaps?
Burgener's name appears in the late 1800s and early 1900s on Kansas cabinet cards, but I do not have any more information about him.
Lovely shot, in clear focus. Soiling to image and card. surface scratching to image.
Card measures about 6.5 x 4.25 inches, and image is about 5.5 x 3.875 inches.
Below the image, in red ink on the beige card, is:
"Burgener,
Artist
Harper, Kansas"
My
mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for
years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as
quickly as I am able.
There
are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any
information my mother may have left with individual photos.
Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn't able
to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research
into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often,
but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more
information on the internet and in history books, but it's a slow
process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and
selling process.
I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please check out my other listings.
