The core business of LuK - which stands for "Disc and Clutch Construction" - has historically been in the area of clutches, related systems and dampers in the transmission line. Today the offer is much broader: Behind the concept of clutch systems there is therefore, in addition to the developments in the field of the wear-recovery clutch, also the overall "clutch and control" complex, in short the release systems.
Clutch disc
The clutch disc is the central connecting element of the clutch.
Together with the thrust ring, it separates and connects the engine and the transmission line. Furthermore, it reduces the speed variations in the gearbox caused by the combustion engine. LuK offers the right solution for every application, from the clutch disc with simple torsional damper to designs with multi-stage damper, from the rigid clutch disc for use in the dual-mass flywheel to the misalignment-compensating clutch disc.
Clutch pressure plates
The thrust ring forms a friction system with the flywheel and clutch disc and is attached to the flywheel by screwing the housing. The thrust ring forwards the engine torque - via the clutch disc - to the gearbox primary shaft. In the 1970s the cup spring clutch gradually replaced coil springs in the automotive sector.
Dual Mass Flywheel (ZMS)
Modern engines can operate at extremely low rpm. The trend is towards increasingly higher engine torques. Bodies optimized in the wind channel produce less wind noise. New calculation methods help reduce the weight of cars and slimming projects increase the efficiency of engines. Even the fifth or sixth gear of the gearbox reduces consumption. Fluid oils facilitate precision engagement. In short: Noise sources increase, natural damping decreases. The principle of the piston engine remains, which with its periodic combustion processes stimulates torsional vibrations in the transmission line - unpleasant consequences are gearbox chatter and body rumble. Drivers accustomed to comfort today no longer accept this type of noise. In addition to separating and connecting, therefore, today the clutch's task of effectively isolating engine vibrations is more important than ever. From a physical point of view this is easily solved: The moment of inertia of the gearbox masses must be increased without increasing the mass to be engaged. In this way, the torsional vibrations of the engine are dampened and the desired comfort is created. In addition to this the gearbox is also downloaded.
The name is a program
As the first manufacturer in Europe, LuK was able to develop and supply a dual-mass flywheel for mass production with which this physical principle can be implemented. The name already says it: The mass of the traditional flywheel has been divided. A part continues to make up the moment of inertia of the engine masses. However, the other part increases the moment of inertia of the gear masses. The two decoupled masses are connected via a spring/damping system. A clutch disc without torsional damper between the secondary mass and the gearbox performs the separation and connection. Favorable side effect: it is easier to operate the gearbox thanks to the lower mass to be synchronized, the synchronization wears less.

- will inform the customer via e-mail;
- in the shortest time possible, and in any case within thirty days starting from the day following the arrival of the confirmation e-mail, will refund the customer any sums paid for the payment of the supply, unless the customer communicates that he wishes to wait the product purchased
Any kind of delay relating to the delivery of the purchased goods is attributable exclusively to the shipper.
Any delays do not lead to the cancellation of the order.
