For sale is a superb cup and saucer set made by Althaldensleben in about 1830. Althaldensleben was started by Gottlob Nathusius in about 1814 as an earthenware factory but soon (about 1826) converted to porcelain making. After his death in 1836 the factory was closed. It is rare to find pieces by this maker as they only made porcelain for ten years and more often one finds pipes rather than cups so this here is a special treat. The cup has a nice shape with a handle including what looks like a 4 leaved clover in the center and sits on three claw feet. Nice white "pearl" design along the bottom edge of the cup. Both the cup and saucer have a blue ground color to them (more mottled on the saucer) with some gold trim to it but the best part is the superbly hand painted scene to the front of t
