The Fenian Brotherhood was a precursor to Clan na Gael, a sister
organization to the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB). The Fenian Brotherhood
raised money by issuing bonds in the name of the "Irish
Republic". The bonds were to be redeemed six months after the
recognition of Ireland's independence. The bonds were printed by the
continental bank note company in New York.
