Title: Contributes 'My Monte Carlo System' to Encore; The Sunday Times Book
Publication: London: Michael Joseph, 1962

Description: [Literary Anthology] FIRST EDITION. Large Octavo (23 x 16cm), pp.488. Publisher's blue cloth with original pictorial dust-jacket priced at 25s. Contents clean, edges slightly toned, no inscriptions. The jacket is simply exceptional having been protected by a custom-made red cloth outer cover, with gilt titles to black label. The jacket beneath is crisp and fresh with no fading whatsoever. A remarkably fine example of the first and rarer of the two 'Encore' year books. Only one other copy in jacket is currently available online (also from Adrian Harrington). From the comprehensive Ian Fleming bibliographical archive assembled by Jon Gilbert (pencilled note within). A collection of outstanding articles contributed to the Sunday Times, this is the FIRST EDITION in book-form. The Fleming article (an insight into his gambling habits) makes it's first appearance in a book and would later appear, with a revised heading, in 'Thrilling Cities'. There are also articles from close friends within the Fleming/Sunday Times circle, including Cyril Connolly (the poet and 'Bond' parody author), Leonard Russell (Fleming's editor), Cecil Beaton (family friend, photographed Fleming) Robert Harling (noted typographer, served under Fleming in 30 Assault Unit), Noel Coward (playwright, spy colleague, neighbour and only marriage witness), Roald Dahl (spy colleague, air ace, popular author and James Bond screenwriter) and Henry Longhurst (golfing colleague).
