DESCRIPTION

Subject: stressed motorists in an abstract chaotic scenario, part of the "stress" series painted by Maestro Pancaldi between the 70s and 90s.

Support and technique: watercolor on cardboard. Created with the "frost technique" to obtain the ice effect in some areas of the pictorial surface, this technique consisted of placing the still fresh painting in the actual cold and then working on it subsequently. This effect was created by the painter Pancaldi and occurs in many of his works, especially in the maturity phase.

The representation of nature and daily life were among the artist's favorite subjects, who was very active and well-known in the Modena area due to his activity as a poster designer for the Communist Party of Modena and the numerous exhibitions he held. Artist: Gaetano Pancaldi (1922-2014), painter of Piumazzo di Castelfranco Emilia in Modena province in the north of Italy. He was very popular in his area because of his many exhibitions and works for the local communist party. Biography available on internet. 

Medium and painting surface: watercolor on light cardboard painted with "Ice technique" that was invented by Pancaldi to obtain the ice effect on some part of the painting surface, this technique consists of literally freezing the fresh wet painting and subsequently work on it again. He used this technique starting from the '70's.
