This was a purchase from the estate of a gentleman who collected African and Middle Eastern artifacts and oddities.  It is not an area I am knowledgeable in at all but I liked and respected the man so I decided to give some items a try.

This was described simply as an Afghan saddle matt. When I researched such pads I didn't see any quite like this with the fringe and beads so I am uncertain.

The colors are fantastic, very rich. I really like how the cords of the fringe are multicolored and have different textures.

I've looked at enough antique marbles to conclude these beads are old and handmade.

There are two areas of condition concern.

One on an edge at the midpoint, maybe past moth damage.

The 2nd is in the middle of one end, an old repair and a few missing fringe strands.

Please see last half dozen photos for details.

It measures 9" wide at the midpoint and is 46" long including the fringe
