I have listed for your perusal a Crystal White Onyx / Chalcedony Carved Jades & Gemstone Gilt Ormolu Bronze Inkwell - from the estate of the Late Irish Tycoon Billionaire James Mansfield Snr of Dublin, Ireland
(Look him up on Google!).

Engraved and Inscribed "Mansfield Dublin" on gilt bronze rim of the carved Clear Rock Crystal Ink pot (carved & turned from block of Clear translucent Rock Crystal) under the outer cover(See Pictures).

As you can see via the pictures listed this superb Inkwell is of various types of Flora & Fauna intricately carved from different colours of Jade stone including White & Moss Jade, and is of  Crystal White Onyx (silicate mineral chalcedony) and gilded bronze construction, it probably came from, and was made by a a master craftsman's workshop under commission either in Paris, Austria, Moscow or London Most probably in the 1940's or 50's but there are no tell tale makers marks anywhere to be found on it (I have looked everywhere) however the Ormolu Bronze & Onyx work does bear some considerable similarities to a maker called Bruutee, Vienna, Austria

The twisted rope effect Ormolu Bronze framed Crystal White Onyx Chalcedony base has 3 delightful applied floral Jade bouquets which also include Turquoise and Coral flower heads .There are a few tiny flea bites on the bouquets but in reality there are no loses large enough that it detracts from the inkwells overall appearance, and I am only highlighting this as I like to be totally thorough with all I list.
The Cast gilt Bronze Inkwell with loop side handles itself together with those very finely carved hard-stone applied decorations is very reminiscent of a good Imperial Russian workshop made piece of an earlier period.

This Inkwell would certainly grace any desk and any Inkwell collection for that matter, it is not very often that you find something of such high quality with history and provenance attached, what it cost the buyer originally I can only guess at, but Inkwell and Stand was not cheap.

Condition is excellent throughout, you might think by looking at the pictures I have listed that the base has some faint cracks, but that is not the case. Those areas that looks like theres crack are natural flaws within the makeup formation of the Chalcedony (Whie Onyx) and they are totally encapsulated within the stone itself and there are no surface cracking either on top or beneath. I must also again point out that the actual inkwell itself is not glass, it is actually carved and turned out from a small block of pure translucent white Rock Crystal this in itself is an incredible sign of the greatest of quality workmanship.

The Inkwell stands 11cm high 17cm wide at its greatest point, the well housing itself is 7cm wide 9.5cm including the swinging ring handles. It has good weight and
