A magnificent and large, turn of the century lion carving.

One of these is on display at the Baker Street Sherlock Holmes Museum in London sitting on a tallboy cabinet. A beautiful evocative piece of the period.

It's expertly carved with 'bone' teeth, claws and many fine details. Crafted circa 1900-1930s. Stunning patination.

The carving is beautifully done, very masculine, stylized and exotic with substantial size giving it an imposing presence.
Its just wonderful to look at at every angle with it's geometric style and flowing lines.

Would be very much at home in an exotic Art Deco interor.

As mentioned it is a large and heavy piece. It measures approximately 40 cm x 11 cm and 13 cm high and weighing in around 2kg.
