For sale is a superb figurine of a King Fisher bird made
by Meissen during the 20th century . First modeled around 1910 by Paul
Walther and hand painted with their famous under glaze colors or
Scharffeuerfarben that used higher temperatures than traditional over
glaze colors. I love them and they look more natural to me. The colorful
bird is sitting on a nice white base which gives it a great contrast.
The artist initials are impressed in the back of the base. The figure is
in perfect condition with a tiny black firing spot under his butt on
the base and some extra porcelain "pimples" at the tip of the beak which
is why it is likely denoted as a second choice piece. No restorations
and he displays perfectly. The beak is so often repaired on these pieces
that it is nice to see one that is in good shape! The piece is marked
underneath with the under glaze blue crossed swords mark with two lines
cut across it as well as the usual impressed marks as shown. The
figurine is 4.375 inches tall, 1.875 inches wide and 5.75 inches long. German Germany 20thC Vogel antique Art Nouveau Jugendstil Vogelfigur If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces. Returns accepted if item is not as described. More
