Ernest Ansermet Fauré Requiem SACD Hybrid TOWER RECORDS JAPAN

Product introduction

Planned for 100 years after Faure's death and 55 years after Anselmet's death. A historical masterpiece originally recorded in stereo by DECCA! The latest reprint of one of the best performances of this song with its pious and pure sound. World's first SA-CD version!

"Requiem" is a classic performance by Anselmet, featuring two of the leading French-speaking singers of the time for solo singing. Even though it was recorded by DECCA in the early days of stereo in 1956, the well-regarded performance that does not spoil the atmosphere of the time is still wonderful to listen to today, and there have been masterpieces by various French-speaking musicians since the same period, but this sound source is also There is no doubt that this is one of the representative recordings of Fauré's "Requeim." This time, as a project to mark the 55th anniversary of Anselmet's death, we have used a new analog master tape from his home country, converted it into DSD, and reprinted it in its final form. The clear yet realistic sound quality is a must-listen. In addition, in the original recording, "Request" and the second and subsequent three songs are separate albums, but after the CD era, these four songs are recorded on one disc, and these four songs are highly complete in terms of coupling. has also been collected into one piece. This is the first time it will be released on SA-CD.

First of all, this "Requiem" is sung by two great singers of the time, Danko and Susee. Suzanne Dankot (1911-2000) was 45 years old at the time of recording, and Gerard Suzay (1918-2004) was 37 years old. Danko, who was born in Brussels, rose to prominence in Mozart's operas and earned the title of being the best Mozart singer of the 20th century as a soprano singer, while also being a famous singer specializing in French works. There aren't many sound sources, but there are some monaural recordings on DECCA, including a collection of opera arias and German works. His works by Debussy and Fauré are particularly outstanding, and he participated in his first opera recording, '' Pelléas et Mélisande'' in 1952, under the direction of Ansermet. He also collaborated with Anselmet on Ravel's '' Scheherazade,'' which was recorded in Paris in 1947. Even in this Faure, Danko's elegant singing voice, along with Susee, greatly enhances the quality of this recording. On the other hand, Susee, who was praised for his velvety voice, was known for his exquisite musicality, and was well-regarded not only for his native German works, but especially for Schubert and Schumann, but above all for his French works. is highly rated. Susee's rich interpretations, which come from a wide repertoire that takes advantage of his extensive language skills, are also part of Susee's appeal, and he left behind many recordings. In addition, in 1945, early in Susee's career as a performer, he sang "Requiem" at a concert celebrating Faure's 100th birthday in England. There are also pros and cons regarding the choir, but it may be said that Anselmet had some kind of intention with this recording. In any case, Anselmet's crisp conducting is also attractive.

The coupling orchestral piece is a performance that can be said to be Anselmet's own, and it is rare to see a performance that shows such beautiful expressions that follow the melody even though it flows indifferently. The SA-CD allows you to hear even more outstanding expressions, including the interplay between the string instruments and the woodwind, which was one of the charms of the Orchester de la Suisse Romande at the time. In addition, the explanation of the album is detailed in the text in the new preface commentary, but in terms of sound quality, we have done the best DSD conversion and mastering under the current situation. Please fully enjoy the true splendor of historical recordings.
