J. C. LEYENDECKER AUTHENTIC PENCIL DRAWING CIRCA 1900

Shown for sale is one of many original drawing that were deaccessioned from the Delaware Art Museum and sold through Heritage Auctions!

This pencil study along with many others were donated to the Delaware Art Museum after the death of a J. C. collector. This study by Leyendecker was possibly used for several published pieces such as Ladies Home Journal, The Century Magazine etc. Image is close to the "Woman's Home Companion" Thanksgiving issue circa 1900 (can't find the image right now?)

Original art came unframed, and I put the still loose art piece on a piece of archival board and hand carved wood frame. Overall framed art measures 17" x 20" with actual art being 6" x 9 1/2", frame is 3" wide. This piece is not signed but easily identified through Heritage Auctions or AskArt site.

CONDITION Art drawing shows age tone, torn off top right corner, crease down and tear down left side, tear to right edge, bottom right corner edge missing and scattered lite soiling! Despite all, the piece presents well! Of note I put a piece of see through archival book tape on reverse to prevent top corner from coming off and secure tear, cannot see from front.
