Presented is a great old Sheffield fused plate sugar basket made around the early 1800s. The basket is raised up on a pedestal base and has a wonderful openwork design of silver wires on the sides. The basket has a nice swing handle that is in fine working order. The basket has the original cobalt glass liner on the interior.
The basket is not marked, as is typical of the old Sheffield fused plate.
The condition is excellent. The cobalt glass liner is in great shape with only a few little flakes here and there. There are no dents, no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The basket measures 4 1/2 inches by 6 inches and has a maximum height of 7 3/4 inches.
