For sale is a large and very rare figure made by Frankenthal in the 18th century . It was modeled by Adam Claer who along with Melchior changed to the Nymphenburg factory in 1799. The figurine is of a lady that is reclining on a water jug that is on its side with water spilling out. Maybe a water nymph ? The piece is superbly modeled with lots of nice detail and hand painted to perfection. The pretty much completely naked lady is just covered a bit around her mid section with a purple cloth held in place by her left hand. Her right arm is leaning on the water jug that is also mostly hidden by the purple cloth. The base is very typical of Frankenthal with rock work and grass all around. The lady has a blue band in her hair. The piece is of a really nice size being about 6.75 inches tall, 10 inches wide and 4 inches deep. The piece is in the same condition as when she was first made which is amazing. She does have some areas of tiny black firing spot from the ash which are from the firing process and original to the piece. These are mainly around her right eye and around her mid section. These don't take away from the piece and are fairly frequently found on these larger pieces. Oddly she is not marked with the CT under the crown in under glaze blue which is a bit unusual but not unheard of. She does have some incised marks including the AC mark which is very typical of Frankenthal pieces from this period and there is no doubt she was made by them around 1780.
