This solid cast brass octagonal brazier is decorated with cut openwork featuring interlacing leaves and palmettes. It’s supported on six legs attached to the sides with handmade square brass brads and topped with pawn shaped finials. There are 2 brass handles on the sides attached with chains.

This measures 14” across at the widest point and stands 7 ¾” high. It weighs about 10 pounds.

This style brazier dates to around the 15th century. Its use spread across Central Asia and the Middle East. Braziers were provided heat inside nomadic tents throughout the region.

This piece still has the original double metal insert to hold hot coals. Very rare to find one complete. Condition is very good with wear appropriate for its age and use but no damage or issue.

This likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century. A similar brazier from the 15th century is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Wonderful Boho chic home décor accent piece or a fantastic addition to a collection of Middle Eastern antiques. Makes a very special gift.
