This sale is for a can motor upgrade kit for HO scale AHM Rivarossi 2-8-2, 2-8-4, and 2-10-2  steam locomotives.  This motor kit is designed to replace the round or square Rivarossi motor mounted in the cab. This motor kit will NOT work in new versions that have a gold colored flaft can motor mounted inside the boiler. NOTE! Be sure to check to see if your engine has a motor inside the cab before purchasing this kit. If you do not see a motor inside the cab, then it is inside the boiler.

This motor kit will provide smoother low speed operation, a more realistic top speed, and operating noise will be reduced. This motor kit IS NOT recommended for the articulated AHM Rivarossi steam locomotives. I have motor kits for the, 2-8-8-2,  Cab Forward, Challenger, and Big Boy engines, please see my other auctions. The motor measures 25mm long x 20mm high x 15mm wide, the motor shaft is 10mm long and 2mm in diameter. At 12 volts DC with no load, the motor draws 50ma and develops 7600 rpm, the stall current is 800ma. This motor is DCC compatible.


The photo shows what the motor kit would look like installed on a Rivarossi 2-8-4 chassis. PLEASE NOTE: The chassis shown in the photo IS NOT included with the motor kit.

This is an easy installation to do, Installation time is about 2 hours. The motor kit consists of 1 flat can motor, new universal couplings, a new driveshaft, motor mounting pad, hook up wire, and illustrated installation instructions.
