For offer, a superb example of a 19th century, silver plated sandwich box.

Having engine turned decoration to all sides, with an Heraldic symbol to the lid cartouche of an arm encased in armour, gripping a Laurel wreath crown, which symbolises strength in leadership and triumph, the internal surfaces are gilt plated.

Stamped to the inside with the maker's mark of "JD & S" for 'James Dixon & Sons' (Established 1806), the absence of the Dixon's 'Trumpet' symbol would suggest that this dates to pre-1879, as 1879 was when the 'Trumpet' symbol was used on all Dixon's produced items.

The condition is excellent, being free from dents or damage, no loss of silver plating, with the hinges being solid and fully working.
