For sale is a vintage (1992) Litespeed Ultimate Road frameset. It is a titanium 58cm frame. The serial numbers stamped on the frame were sent to Litespeed for confirmation of the year/model/size. The text below is copied directly from the email sent by Litespeed:

"We looked up the information we have on file for the serial number you provided and show that Litespeed to be:
1992 Litespeed Ultimate Road frame size 58cm"

This is a polished titanium bike that has been well taken care of by previous owners. I acquired it second hand a few weeks back, and unfortunately, it is slightly too large for me. It is a wonderful vintage titanium frameset that will perform for years to come when fitted with modern components. Overall, it is in excellent used condition, with the normal scratches and wear present for a bike of its age. I have attempted to list some of the most noteworthy features and flaws of the item below.

Approximate Frame Measurements

-- Center of bottom bracket to center of top tube = 58 cm
This measurement was provided by Litespeed - please see photos of tape measure for confirmation.

-- Center of seat tube to center of headtube (top tube length) = approximately 57 cm (measured by following the top surface of the top tube, holding the tape in the same angle as the tube)

-- Chainstay length - center of BB to center of rear axle dropout = approximately 39 cm (measured as the center of the bottom bracket to the center of the rear wheel axle/dropout.)

-- Headtube length = approximately 15.7 cm (measured as distance between the two Cane Creek headset components)

Please note that these measurements are all approximate, with the exception of the 58 cm measurement provided by the manufacturer. I have done my best to ensure that the measurements are as accurate as possible. However, given that the measurements are in cm, and are often taken from perceived component centers, there is some slight subjectivity and potential for biasing. This means that  your measurements could differ slightly from mine. If you would like additional measurements of anything (including photos of the tape), please let me know.

Features

(1) Litespeed Ultimate Road Frame size 58 cm
-- This frame features internal top tube cable routing. Please see photos for images of the cable entrance and exit points. The frame is generally in good condition for its age. However, surface scratches are present throughout, consistent with age. There is heavier scratching and some marring on the chainstays.

(2) Cane Creek S2 threadless headset w/ Bontrager cap.

(3) Easton EC30 carbon fork. Overall, the fork appears to be in good condition. I am unable to detect any cracks. There is bowing present, consistent with components of this type.

Note that *no other components are included in this sale.* You are bidding on the frameset and components shown in the photos.

Please take note of the following flaws, which I have tried to describe in as much detail as possible. Additional photos, and information can be provided upon request.

Flaws of Note

(1) The Litespeed badge on the head tube is missing. Some sticky emblem adhesive remains in this area, which will need to be removed with a mild solvent before a new badge is installed.

(2)  The fork turns, but not as freely as it should. I am not sure of the cause.

(3) Most of the original Litespeed stickers have been removed, e.g. on the toptube, etc. Aftermarket sticker sets are now available for these bikes. The only stickers that remain are: (a) The "Made in USA by Litespeed" sticker at the bottom of the seat tube, and (b) the David Lynskey signature on the chainstay. These show signs of wear, including scratches, marring, and missing portions of the stickers.

(4) There is what appears to be some sort of rub on the titanium frame, located on the chainstay. it is possible to feel a light indentation when rubbing your hand over this area, and the small 'divet' is visible with the naked eye. I initially wondered whether this could have been some sort of factory clearance modification, but I have not seen other bikes with this, so I will assume that it was somehow produced by rubbing/wear, caused by previous owners of the bike. This wear mark appears to be a mostly cosmetic flaw, as it does not go through the tube entirely, and no bending of any sort is visible in this area. If you are concerned about this rub mark in any way, please contact me for additional photos. I have provided several photos of this area.

(5) The attachment points where the downtube shifters connect are slightly corroded, and will require cleaning. This is shown in the photos.

(6) The plastic bottom bracket cable guide is broken, and will need to be replaced. Please see the photos for details.
