Presented is a fabulous set of 4 Chinese export silver napkin rings in the original
box. The set is from the mid-1800s, circa 1845 to 1870s. The box is a highly decorated
lacquered wood with gilding that displays a genre scene with men standing among
trees and a small building. The inside has painted decoration on pith paper and
4 compartments for the napkin rings.
The silver napkin rings displays 3 hand-chased genre scenes of men with a
deer surrounded by trees. One scene has a small oval cartouche above it with no
monograms.
This set is in excellent overall condition, especially considering age. The
napkin rings have some wear to the high points, especially the faces. The box has some flaking to
the paint and a few chips in the wood on the corners. There are no breaks and no
repairs.
