José Villa Pérez ( Tuxpan , Jalisco ) May 26, 1915 – Mexico City , July 24, 1986), known as Pepe Villa , was a Mexican musical artist . 1 His group, Pepe Villa's Mariachi México , standardized the use of double trumpets in modern mariachi music in the 1950s 2 by integrating the musician Miguel Martínez Domínguez into its ranks .
Pepe Villa changed what was usually heard in this genre and managed to include an additional trumpet in the mariachi , 2 played by the musician Miguel Martínez. This was widely accepted and was adopted as a standard by all mariachi groups that exist to this day. 3
With this modality, Pepe Villa's "Mariachi México" recorded a series of single albums and instrumental pieces of which an unusual number of copies were sold, which is why it earned a “Gold Record” from its band. record company Discos Musart .
Pepe Villa's "Mariachi Mexico" participated in more than 100 films, highlighting among these: Two Kinds of Care, To the Devil with Women, When the Brave Cry, Islas Marías, Camelia, Bonitas Tapatias, Scream Stones from the Field to Me, That's My México, Camino de Guanajuato, El rapto, Cielito linda, Los cuatro Juanes, Lucio Vázquez, Los forajidos, Las tres pelonas, Los tres bohemios, and many more. He accompanied the greatest artists of Mexican music in presentations and recordings such as Lola Beltrán, Jorge Negrete, José Alfredo Jiménez, Luis Aguilar, Felipe Arriaga, Tito Guizar, Amalia Mendoza, Juana Mendoza, Tomas Méndez, Cornelio Reyna, Tintán, Libertad Lamarque, Flor Silvestre, Antonio Aguilar, Vicente Fernández, Pedro Fernández, Juan Valentín and Federico Villa, among others.
He inaugurated the Olympic Games in 1968 and played at the 1970 World Cup for the prominent player Pelé.
With his Mariachi México, Pepe Villa managed to be present on the most prominent radio and television programs in Mexico and have in his existence more than 135 albums that include sones, polkas, pasodobles, danzones, waltzes, cumbias, boleros, rancheras, instrumentals and even Beatles music. Regarding compositions, Pepe Villa composed two very outstanding songs, El son del Cuervo and El Forastero.
Pepe Villa died in Mexico City of a heart attack on July 24, 1986 at the age of 71.

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise.
These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
