Beautiful..... One Of A Kind..... Native Folk Art, Panama... RARE 1950s or 1960s Cocle Province Panama Art Hand Carved & Hand Painted Goonie Bird Wooden Wall Plaque. Solid Wood. Panamanian Art. The inhabitants of Cocle province on the southern coast of Panama created imaginatively decorative ceremonial wooden pieces, adorned with countless powerful and sophisticated versions of motifs popular among native civilizations. These Hand Carved Wooden Plaques never come up for sale. This is the first one I have seen in years. From a Private Collection in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was picked up in Panama back in the 1950s or 1960s. The The original owner passed away in his 90s. The remaining Family members are not sure when he first acquired the Art piece. They just remember it always being around. I cannot find any information on this hand carved piece. I find paintings of Goonie Birds, but not carving. SIZE: 16 inches by 13-1/2 inches. Vibrant colors... just beautiful! Believed to be one of a kind. Never seen another like it. |
