The Characters from Thackeray cards are loose with no album and are an incomplete set of fifteen cards which includes five duplicates. The cards have the reference numbers: 5, 7, 9, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21, 22 and 25. Two of the cards are duplicates of the number 18 card and three of the cards are duplicates of the number 22 card. The cards are believed to have been issued by John Players & Sons in 1913. There is varying discolouration apparent to the cards and various creases, stains, dirt, foxing and imprinted marks on them as well as some of the images and printed detailing on them appearing scuffed and worn with the visual appearance of some cards more prominently and detrimentally affected than others as a result. The surface of the front of the card with the reference number 19 has been torn in the bottom right corner. The bottom right corner of one of the cards with the reference number 22 is torn. The edges of the cards appear varyingly scuffed, softened and worn with some indentions apparent in them as well as rounding to the tips of the corners which appear varyingly dog-eared. The cards appear varyingly curved and bent which is most apparent when they are all stacked together. The approximate size of each card is 36mm x 67mm. The approximate combined weight of the fifteen cards is 14g.
