The movements of the German army during the war, brought the BR 52 to all occupied and areas. When the German army had to retreat, many of these locos remained in these countries. Until today one can find the BR 52's in the fleets of DB, DR, ÖBB, PKP, FS, CSD, CFR, HDZ, NSB, SZD, SNCB, CFL, SNCF and both the Yugoslavian and Turkish Railways, to name the most important. Taking the Locos also built after the war into consideration a total of 6719 were produced.
