For sale is a reticulated basket made by Meissen in the late
18th century. I have not seen this version before but I do own a larger
similar version from the same period. This one here has a round shape
to it and is hand painted with two larger flowers as well as two
smaller ones and two garlands to the side but the best part is the
outside design. There is lots of relief work in the shape of roses and
leaves that are painted pink and green and the base has leaf garlands
held up by yellow rings all around as well as a few small flowers and a
nice design along the bottom edge. A cherry piece that looks superb and
with those handle the perfect example of the classical period when
Meissen was under control of Graf Marcolini . The basket is marked
underneath with the blue under glaze crossed swords with the star under
it as well as the number 11. The basket is in great condition with a
firing flaw to one of the handles that was ground down a bit at the
factory and a small area of tiny chips that was colored in to hide them
very well along the bottom edge. There is a small factory repair under
one of the handles done with porcelain. It displays superbly! The piece
is 5.25 inches tall not including the handles, 7.75 inches wide
including the handles and 6.75 inches deep. Markolini German Germany Durchbruchkorb Servierkorb
