NEW YORK TOWN HALL USA C1885 ANTIQUE GILDED AGE PHOTO Magic Lantern Slide

One of a number of slides I am listing from a group relating to a tour of the US. Unfortunately the photographer is unknown but likely a wealthy amateur and as a result the images are more natural / naive and not posed like many of the time so have some charm to them.

The images from this group ( being sold seperately ) include New York and Yellowstone national park and locations along the way. It appears they used both the railroads and river to cross the country.

I have dated these to no later than 1885 based on information gained from other images that appear to be by the same photographer. One of the Yellowstone photos we sold was of Marshalls hotel, this changed names in 1885 and one of New York slides shows a banner relating to President Grover Cleveland & his Vice President Thomas A Hendricks, Hendricks died in November 1885.

We also are selling a number of slides of Blackpool and Liverpool England and I like to think these were taken whilst waiting for passage to the US.

The slide is approximately 8.2cm X 8.2cm or in inches 3.23" X 3.23"
