Antique 8 Day Carriage Clock Case with Key

Condition Fine with light marks indicative of both age and usage. Some wear to silk lining lower right corner of interior showing in main picture. Slight markings to interior silk lining. Missing clip to lower of the front closure fixings.

This antique carriage clock case, standing at approximately 144mm in height, 110mm in length, and 75mm in width, features a compact design and a leather-covered exterior. It is intended to hold an 8 day clock and is equipped with a fold-out front that reveals an interior flap. Behind this flap is a compartment for an 8 day clock key, which is included.

The interior of the case is silk-lined and adorned with ornate gilt patterning along the rims. Securing the contents are two front brass clips, while the exterior rims feature gilt patterns. A gilt-decorated handle adorns the top, and the case rests on four small stud brass feet.

Despite its age, the case retains its charm, bearing fine marks of usage and slight wear to the silk lining. However, there is a missing clip to the lower front closure fixings. Although unbranded, this carriage clock case is a testament to craftsmanship and serves as a reminder of an era when such accessories were commonplace.
