This is a rare antique novelty cruet jug bottle from the early 1900s. This fun little jug is made of amber colored blown glass in the form of a standing parrot or cockatoo. The cruet features a beautifully detailed, gold gilt metal hinged head and claw legs. The glass eyes and applied reeded scroll glass handle also add to the aesthetic appeal of this unique piece.

Measures approximately 6.5”H x 3.5”W x 5”D (including handle). There are some scratches on the bottom underneath tail portion, small bubbles in the glass, and may be a small nick at the very end of the tail, although this could just be part of the pontil (see last photo which is enlarged). Overall, this piece is in exceptionally nice condition. Please review all photos as they are part of the description. The embossed number 12 on the inside of the head is the only marking I can find. The size of this piece lends itself to functioning as a cruet, creamer, syrup, sauce or oil dispenser. Although, some have referred to these glass bird containers as a perfume bottle or wine claret carafe. These pieces have become very scarce and rarely come up for sale. We have had ours for at least 30 plus years and never actually used it, but kept it on display with other antique glass as a very unique statement piece.
